3 untouchable C players not named Tatum or Brown

Heading into the 2022 NBA offseason, the Boston Celtics already seemed to have one of the most impressive rosters in the entire association.

With guys like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the charge as the centerpieces of the team, it’s kind of hard not to see the ball club in such a light.

Impressively enough, however, Brad Stevens and co. managed to make this menacing team all the more lethal thanks to several key trades made since their Game 6 loss to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals in June.

Whether it’s bolstering their backcourt depth or addressing their lack of pine presence, the Boston Celtics emerged as the outright winners of this year’s offseason and now, thanks to their bolstered rotation, they are rightfully considered favorites to win the 2023 Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Now, while their status as true championship contenders is heavily influenced by the greatness of the Jays, it ultimately depends on the quality of the talent pool around these two cornerstones.

In fact, this roster is so talented that we at HH believe there are a number of players who could be considered untouchable commodities.

With that in mind, today we’re discussing 3 people who, like Tatum and Brown, should be considered banned when it comes to trade negotiations:

Boston Celtics No. 1 player Marcus Smart

For starters, we have a fairly easy inclusion on a list of untouchables in the heart and soul talent of the team, Marcus Smart.

After years of being relegated to the bench or being forced to serve as a second guard option, 2021-22 proved to be the first time the Swiss army man could be entrusted as the undisputed holder of the Boston Celtics and, as a result, he and the franchise went on and made history.

Embarking on one of the biggest midseason turnarounds in the league’s 75-year history, Boston flipped a switch after starting 20-21 in its first 42 games played, as they finished by going 31-10 from there and clinched their first Finals berth in over a decade.

The reasoning for this miraculous 180 is the result of many different factors, but a major key turned out to be the play of Smart, who served not only as the main guard but also as one of their main leaders on both and off the field.

Midway through, Smart was simply a two-way nightmare for opposing teams, posting 12.8 points, 6.5 assists and 3.6 boards per night on 45% shooting from the ground and 36% shooting from range. .

While his offensive efficiency was a truly stupendous sight to behold, as always, it was his play on the less glamorous side of the ball that really galvanized this Celtics team.

Guided by their lead on that front, the team finished the year as the best defensive unit in the association while the 28-year-old won the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award in the process. , becoming the first guard since 1996 to accomplish this feat.

A true jack-of-all-trades, what Marcus smart provides Boston with his game and leadership every night is simply irreplaceable, and even players of years past have deemed him an untouchable asset to this title contender.

We can only agree with this concept.
