Moon Knight Head Writer Reveals Villains Who Almost Appeared

Disney+ series by Marvel Studio moon knight its first season recently ended, and while the season focused primarily on just one villain – Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow – the team behind the series had many more ideas for other villains.

Jeremy Slater, Executive Producer and Head Writer of moon knightsaid the team considered many other villains for the series, including Bushman, a character who has appeared in a variety of roles moon knight Comics as the longtime villain of Moon Knight.

“I mean, Bushman was definitely in my first few versions of the script, and we tried to have several different versions of him,” Slater told The Direct. “Ultimately, I was the one who made the decision to destroy Bushman. I went to Marvel and said I’m not comfortable with that, can we take it out and talk about different versions and they’ve always been very supportive of me.”

Slater also spoke about a handful of other villains that might have been considered for the series, including some lesser-known Marvel villains like Stained Glass Scarlet and Zodiac. Instead, Slater said he took different traits from a bunch of villains and used them to create an original character for the show.

“We really looked at all the classic villains. There were a few we talked about; Stained Glass Scarlet, and you know, Zodiac and various similar characters. Nobody really fit the parameters of the story we were telling, so we just said, “You know what, can we just introduce a guy, and we’ll pick a name from a few” — you know, they gave me a list of [like] every villain that has ever appeared in a Moon Knight comic. I just went through it and said, ‘Arthur Harrow, that sounds like a cool villain name, let’s get on with it.'”
