Chelsea vs Liverpool live! Result, updates on how to watch FA Cup Final

Chelsea v Liverpool promises to be an epic FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday (kick-off at 11:45am ET) as Jurgen Klopp’s machine aims to keep their quadruple hopes alive.

[ LIVE: FA Cup Final updates, stats ]

Liverpool previously beat Chelsea in the League Cup final at Wembley earlier this season when they won 11-10 on penalties in a classic final. Klopp has never won the FA Cup and this is the first time he has reached the final since arriving at Liverpool in October 2015. Given that they already have the League Cup trophy, they are just behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race in their last two games and the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28 in Paris, this final marks the Beginning of what could become historic two weeks for Liverpool, even by their own high standards. Klopp’s Liverpool are a ruthless machine and will take a few breaks lest they lift at least two more trophies.

For Chelsea, this is the fourth major final Thomas Tuchel has reached in just over a year as Blues coach (two FA Cup finals, one League Cup final and the Champions League final) and he would love to win this trophy The UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup have already added Chelsea to the trophy cabinet in 2021/22. Chelsea’s bid for the Premier League title has failed to materialize this season but they are still very dangerous and Tuchel always seems good against Klopp as Liverpool’s high pressing is often offset by Chelsea’s solid 3-4-2-1 -Formation is smothered. Chelsea have reached the FA Cup final in each of the last two seasons but lost to Arsenal and Leicester City both times. Happy for the third time?

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the Chelsea vs Liverpool game.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Live Analysis! – By Joe Prince-Wright at Wembley Stadium

Chelsea had plenty of chances as Alexander-Arnold hooked the ball away and Pulisic lurked.

We’re in overtime. Joel Matip replaces Virgil van Dijk.

FULL-TIME: Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool – We’ll have extra time here at Wembley.

Luis Diaz curls straight wide again. How many shots did he have today!?

POST AGAIN! Andy Robertson hits the back post but hammers his shot against the post. Didn’t quite get it. Big chance.

POST OFFICE! Luis Diaz hits the outside of the post as his shot at the near post goes just inches wide of the target.

CONCLUDE! Chances at both ends as Pulisic misses a low shot wide, then Luis Diaz lures inches wide at the other end. It’s 0-0, but there’s no shortage of chances. 20 minutes left …

Delicious, inviting cross from Andy Robertson, but no Liverpool came even close to the six-yard box. Alonso concedes.

Jota shoots a low shot wide of the far post. Liverpool creates chances to counterattack.

Chelsea are building up the pressure. Pulisic recovers the ball and gets almost to the end of a cross, but Alexander-Arnold clears, then Alonso closes almost on the back post.

CONCLUDE! Luis Diaz spins superbly and drills a low shot just wide of the target. Good game from Jota under construction. The game has now opened up a bit.

CROSSBAR! Alonso’s free-kick flies past everyone and whizzes over the bar and out.

TO SAVE! Pulisic is rejected by Alisson. Good stop by the Liverpool goalkeeper but the try was a little too close for Alisson. Nice play by Lukaku to set up the chance.

Marcos Alonso puts his shot wide after Mason Mount let the ball run and Pulisic put in a great cross.

HALFTIME: Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool – Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota had some great chances for Liverpool while Christian Pulisic and Marcos Alonso were both close for Chelsea. Liverpool started very well but Chelsea have taken control, especially after Mohamed Salah’s injury. That’s a big blow for Liverpool and let’s see if he’s fit for the Champions League final.

OVER! Andy Robertson whips in a cross for Jota, but he turns around. Big missed opportunity for Liverpool.

INJURY: Mohamed Salah is down and escapes with an injury. Diogo Jota is there. Salah and Jürgen Klopp were involved in an intensive conversation during the break in the game shortly before his downfall. Heavy blow for Liverpool.

Moments later, Pulisic cleared and set up Alonso, but his first touch was a little heavy and Alisson saved from six yards. The Liverpool goalkeeper then required treatment for a knee injury when he collided with Alonso

SO CLOSE! Christian Pulisic is inches away from giving Chelsea the lead. Excellent move to the right as Reece James and Mason Mount combine. Pulisic looks at the sky in disbelief. He thought he hit. The shot went off his ankle.

Best game for Chelsea as Reece James Romelu finds Lukaku in the box but he treats and the whistle goes. The ball fell to Pulisic, but he just missed his shot. Much better.

Chelsea have barely stringed together a few passes. Liverpool are so direct and constantly looking for Luis Diaz.

TO SAVE! Edouard Mendy denies Diaz, who was played through cleanly. The ball spins toward goal, but Chalobah hacks clear, then Keita’s rebound just misses. Wow. Liverpool are at the top and Diaz is having the time of his life out there. He has acres of space.

CONCLUDE! Luis Diaz cuts in from the left, but his shot/cross narrowly avoids Thiago in the penalty area. A cross is then whipped in, but Salah heads past.

A very simple message from both groups of players before the game.

KICK OFF: We are here at Wembley with the smoke still swirling from the pre-game pyro show. What a noise. What a game this promises to be.

Team news is in and the big surprise is that Romelu Lukaku and Christian Pulisic keep their position in attack ahead of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. Trevoh Chalobah also starts ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta. Liverpool start Konate via Matip at centre-back, while Keita, Henderson and Thiago start in midfield, while Salah, Mane and Diaz are up front.
