Sam Ryder has revealed he’s formed an unlikely friendship with Freaky Friday’s Jamie Lee Curtis.

The Eurovision hopeful, 32, has explained that Jamie, 63, is a “fan” of his, an idea he finds “surreal”.

The support comes as Sam will represent the United Kingdom in Saturday’s Eurovision Song Contest final.

Speaking to ‘The Daily Star’, the singer shared details of his friendship with Jamie, noting: “Jamie has been so encouraging from day one, she’s so lovely. She is an absolute legend.

“I hope to meet her one day and talk about music. She loves music and she’s such an interesting woman.’

Sam continued that the thought of having such a famous fan is “surreal,” adding, “It was surreal at first, the fact that she’s a fan of mine will always be surreal.

With a flurry of support from both the public and celebrities behind for Saturday’s performance, Sam recently revealed he’d be open to collaborating with the likes of Sia on upcoming music.

“Sia would be amazing. Not only is she incredible as a singer, musician, writer and person. But she was the first person to root for me on social media in lockdown,” he explained.

Sam continued: “Justin Bieber sent her my video which is a crazy sentence and she posted it on her Instagram page with a really kind encouraging message underneath and it would be really nice to come full circle and share to meet her, work with her. That would be a dream come true!’

The Eurovision final begins at 8pm on BBC One on Saturday night.
