NHL Tips, Betting, Odds for Lightning at Maple Leafs, Bruins at Hurricanes, Kings at Oilers

Three Game 7s in one day? What a treat for hockey fans. The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs was full of tight streaks, and Saturday’s Game 7 trio is the best example of that.

This is the first time in eight years that there have been three Game 7s in one day. In addition, the matchups are also interesting for several reasons. The marquee matchup is likely to be Tampa Bay in Toronto. Toronto hasn’t won a playoff series since 2004 and Tampa Bay is a two-time defending Stanley Cup champion.

Game 6: Bruins 5, Hurricanes 2 | Series draw 3-3

who was the guy It’s probably safe and boring to pick Brad Marchand at this point. He’s great throughout, and Thursday night was quiet on the off-school side of the road. But he still had a big impact; He scored the opening goal, a first for Boston of the series, and his line – you may have heard from the other two guys there – was outstanding.

what was the key It was all about Boston’s support player after Marchand’s goal. The Bruins have been saying for a couple of years that if they get anything from the middle six, they’re a dangerous team. It just doesn’t happen regularly enough. On Thursday, however, they scored goals from Charlie Coyle, Erik Haula, Derek Forbort and Curtis Lazar. If they get that in Game 7, beware Carolina – and if they get it consistently, beware everyone else.

Key Stats: If Boston wins Game 7, it will be their 16th such win in franchise history and break a tie with the Canadians. If the Hurricanes win Game 7, it will be their sixth straight win, setting an NHL record last matched by the Rangers in 2015.

Bruins Worry Meter: 🤪🤪🤪🤪…Momentum doesn’t carry over from game to game, but it does help coming into Game 7 with a win.

Hurricane Worry Meter: 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 … you certainly must feel more pressure than Boston; They were one of the few best teams in the league during the regular season, beating the Bruins every time they met.

Game 6: Lightning 4, Maple Leafs 3 (OT) | Series draw 3-3

Summary by Max Bultman

what was the key Before we get to that, let me say this: The Maple Leafs did it so much right on Thursday. They came back from an early deficit and showed really impressive resilience. For a team whose mental state was (quite) challenged at big moments, it was great to see them turn a 2-0 hole into a 3-2 lead in a tight away game. Set in an alternate universe, this is the game’s story. But two big stocking penalties midway through the third (one earned, one quite obviously a missed call) gave the Lightning a long 5-on-3. Nikita Kucherov capitalized, tied the game by three and eventually forced overtime. But even after that, the Leafs put on a strong extra-frame performance until a bang-bang game – which started with Auston Matthews, who was excellent in the game, blowing out a hoop – wiped away what should have been such a success story.

Important stats? 0-and-8. That’s the Maple Leafs’ record in closeout games since 2017 with their current core intact. You have another chance to finish this narrative on Saturday. But it’s the stat that will hover above everyone else until they do.

Worry Knife by Maple Leafs: 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 … It was just right for them and they played really well on Thursday. You also get game 7 at home. The bad news? And you know.

Lightning Worry Meter: 🥴🥴🥴🥴 … Perhaps this should be higher considering they were almost gulf-bound on Thursday. But they just don’t have demons that have the leaves.

Game 6: Oilers 4, Kings 2 | Series draw 3-3

Summary by Harman Dayal

who was the guy To absolutely no one’s surprise, Connor McDavid was king while the Oilers had their backs against the wall. McDavid opened the scoring after less than a minute. He had the zone entry and secondary assist for Tyson Barrie’s game winner. And he bowed with a strong defensive play on the backcheck to strip Andreas Athanasiou and send Evander Kane for the empty net insurance token.

From start to finish, No.97 was a workhorse. With McDavid on the ice, the Oilers had 20 shots on target and 3 goals in a five-on-five. The Kings as a team had 24 shots and 1 goal in a 5-on-5.

Key Stats: Edmonton won the 5-on-5 bout by a 3-1 lead. The Oilers’ special teams have been so strong throughout most of this series, but what has surpassed them is how badly they have been beaten at evens — they have been outplayed in their 10-2, 5-on-5 losses. LA grabbed victories by dominating the fight with equal strength. It was crucial for Edmonton to at least hold their ground at Evens, they did even better by winning it decisively thanks to McDavid.

King’s worry knife: 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯…They have a legitimate chance of winning Game 7, but it doesn’t help that they’re out now, have McDavid en fuego, and Darnell Nurse is returning.

Oiler Worry Meter: 🥴🥴🥴🥴 … They are still 60 minutes away from another possible outcome of the first round.
