Russia is threatening the US, Britain and Finland with nuclear weapons if NATO expands

A Russian leader threatened to hit Britain and Finland with the Satan 2 hypersonic nuclear missile “in just 200 seconds” – and that the weapons could also be used to hit the United States.

The threat came as NATO foreign ministers gathered in Berlin and the agenda included discussion of Sweden’s and Finland’s possible bids to join the western military alliance.

The two countries have suggested they could seek NATO membership in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In response, Russia suspended electricity supplies to Finland on Friday.

“If Finland wants to join this bloc, then our aim is perfectly legitimate – to question the very existence of this state. It’s logical,” said Aleksey Zhuravlyov, 59, the deputy chairman of the Russian parliament’s defense committee, in an interview with The Mirror. “Finns in general should be grateful to Russia for their statehood, for Finland existing as a state.”

“If the United States threatens our state, it is good: here is the Sarmat [Satan-2] for you, and there will be atomic ash from you if you think Russia shouldn’t exist,” he continued. “And Finland says it is one with the US. Well, get in line.”

The Satan-2 is a ballistic missile capable of carrying 10 to 15 nuclear warheads, each with an estimated destructive power of three megatons.

Russia would not need to move nuclear weapons to its European border to carry out its threat, officials boasted.

“We can strike with a sarmat [known in the West as Satan-2] from Siberia and even reaching the UK,” he said. “And if we strike from Kaliningrad… the range of the hypersonic is 200 seconds – go ahead, folks.

“On the Finnish border we will not have strategic weapons, but Kinzhal-class weapons that will reach Finland in 20 seconds or even 10 seconds.”

Separately, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said Russia knew that NATO “wants to militarize anything within reach,” Interfax news agency reported.
