Surveillance Video: Wanted murder suspect seen running after allegedly killing an air conditioning repairman in SW Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – ABC13 has received new video of the suspect wanted in the murder of an air conditioning repairman in southwest Harris County.

A 51-year-old mechanic was shot dead Thursday night in the 3900 block of Summit Valley Drive.

Deputies responded to the shooting around 6:35 p.m. When they arrived, they found the victim unresponsive due to multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was working at a home when she was confronted by an unidentified man, who then shot her.

A neighbor, who asked not to be named, said she spoke to the customer to have her air conditioner fixed. She is referred to as Jane Doe in this article.

A customer said the handyman had just arrived home and hadn’t started work yet.

“He (the mechanic) went in gate to find out what was wrong with the air conditioning and then went out to get his stuff, his gear, to start working on it,” Doe said. “Then he was shot.

ABC13 obtained exclusive video of the suspected gunman running from the scene shortly after the Summit Valley Drive shooting around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Video shows HCSO lawmakers confronting this suspect about a block from the crime scene.

“The man fled the scene to an apartment building about a block from where he got into an unlocked vehicle,” said Greg Pinkins of the HCSO Homicide Division. “That’s where the deputies found him and confronted him. He took off on foot. The deputies lost him.”

Life Flight flew the mechanic to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers searched for the suspect after it was reported he got into an unlocked vehicle about a block from the scene.

“We are all afraid. We fear for our lives because the suspect has not been caught,” Doe said.

MPs didn’t find him, but they described him as black with an afro. Most recently, he wore a black T-shirt with “Glock” written on the front, red sweatpants and red slippers.

Investigators warn that anyone who encounters the suspect should not approach him but instead call 911 as he is considered armed and dangerous.

The reason for the shooting is not known at this time.

Anyone with information should call authorities at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or Homicide at 713-274-9100.
