Genshin Impact developers HoYoverse have officially announced their latest ARPG titled Zenless Zone Zero, a brand new urban fantasy HoYoverse IP set in a world where contemporary civilization has been destroyed by a supernatural cataclysm called the Hollows.
Players in the game take on the role of a Proxy, a special pro who guides people in their exploration of Hollows. Players are tasked with helping them explore the hollows, fight their enemies, and achieve their goals. They learn more about their history and their place in it.
“We want to invite players to explore [New Eridu]the last resort for urban civilization due to the disaster [Hollows]. Together with a group of distinctive partners, they will fight side by side and unravel the mysteries of this post-apocalyptic world,” says HoYoverse in a press release.

In New Eridu, a post-apocalyptic metropolis, players embark on an adventure with different characters and experience action-oriented combat.
Along with the title release, HoYoverse also released this one follower, which provides a glimpse into the game’s characters, “futuristic and 3D anime-style art” and the world. The trailer features the game’s protagonists, Unagi, Billy, Anbi, and NosTradamus, as well as a closer look at New Eridu and the monsters that ravage it.
It featured a mix of gameplay, cutscenes, and what appeared to be an arena-based combat system, with players battling the Aetherial in preset combat stages as opposed to an open world.
Each character comes equipped with their own weapons and different abilities, such as NosTradamus’ mobile railgun, Billy’s dual pistols, and Unagi’s sword, which should offer players unique gameplay opportunities tailored to your preferred combat preferences – whether that’s firing from a safe distance or up close and personal.
“Along with the compelling story, this 3D anime-style title features a fluid, cinematic, action-oriented combat system. During the fight against Ethereal, players can take control of different characters to unleash electrifying abilities and unlimited QTE combos. The game also developed a roguelike gameplay mechanism waiting to be explored,” says HoYoverse.
Although a release date has yet to be announced, registration for the game’s closed beta is available, and although the beta start date and schedule will be announced later, you can already register for it on the game’s official page website.
